July 2015 - Apr 2016 - News articles

Summary

Guildford Museum provides educational services and changing exhibitions but the permanent displays are long overdue for a revamp. The displays were allowed to stagnate whilst the borough pursued two unsuccessful lottery bids over a number of years. In April 2015 the final bid was rejected and following the 2015 election Guildford Borough Council decided to look into the future of the museum.

In April 2016 the Executive agreed to spend £2.5 million on an extension, cafe and new galleries. The links below tell the story of up to April 2016
